A social studies teacher (Kevin Spacey) challenges a 12-year-old boy (Haley Joel Osment) to make the world a better place. The boy develops the idea of “pay it forward,” the karmic belief that if someone does a good deed for you, you do a good deed for someone else until the whole world is reached.
