Heartland Film to showcase the winning short film from last year’s Indianapolis 48 Hour Film Project competition along with a 2014 Heartland Film Festival short film during First Friday from 7-10 p.m.

On First Friday August 7, Heartland Film will be partnering with Indianapolis 48 Hour Film Project to show two short films, free of charge, in the Heartland Basile Theatre in Fountain Square. Indianapolis 48 Hour Film Project will be presenting the short film, Wagon Trail, one of the winners of last year’s competition. Heartland Film will be playing a short film from the 2014 Heartland Film Festival (specific title to be announced soon). Sun King (Exclusive Beer of Heartland Film) cans, wine, soda and popcorn will be available for purchase.

The 48 Hour Film Project is a wild and sleepless weekend in which you and a team make a movie – write, shoot, and edit – in just 48 hours. On Friday night, teams draw a genre from a hat. They are then given a character, prop and line to include in their films. On Sunday night, in a wild dash to the drop off event, the film is turned in – and teams celebrate. The film is then screened at a local theater in front of an audience of filmmakers, friends and families. The winning film will go up against films from around the world at Filmapalooza 2016 for a chance at the grand prize and an opportunity to screen at the Cannes Film Festival 2016, Court Métrage.

Indianapolis 48 Hour Film Project is scheduled to take place July 31 – August 2, 2015. If you are interested in participating in this year’s competition, visit The 48 Hour Film Project website and register your team by the Regular Deadline on Tuesday, July 21 or the Late Deadline on Friday, July 31. Be sure to check out the website for more information on filmmaking and competition rules, production documents and other information. The films made during this year’s competition are scheduled to screen at the IMA on August 8.
