In 1939, physicist Leo Szilard advances beyond the recent discovery of splitting the atom, and discovers that the creation of atomic energy and a bomb are imminently possible. He must convince his colleagues at Columbia Univer- sity to keep their nuclear research a secret and protect the world from atomic weapons.
