Emma Woodhouse delights in playing matchmaker for all of her friends. She introduces Harriet to the Reverend Elton, and prides herself on facilitating the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Weston. Despite her self-confidence, most of Emma’s matches are doomed from the start. In all of her meddling, Emma has learned little about true romance, so much so she fails to recognize her own growing love for Mr. Knightley, an available bachelor.
