From an early age, Cliff learns that Segregation is the rule. The first step in his education is learning from his great-grandfather the difference between “W” and “C” — white and colored. As Cliff gets older, he begins to witness the early stages of the Civil Rights movement, but never forgets his childhood in a separate and unequal world.
