Red Harris has just turned seventy-five. Confronted with old age and what he sees as a bleak and lonely future, he yearns for the innocence and adventures of his past. While searching for his youth and long-forgotten hope, he is forced to confront his past and eventually comes to appreciate the present, renewing ties with daughter and grandson.
