The 88th Annual Academy Awards® took place on Sunday, Feb. 28, and three films honored by Heartland Film through the Heartland Film Festival or Truly Moving Picture Award took home the gold. Winners include:
Short Film, Live Action
2015 Heartland Film Festival Official Selection, Narrative Short Stutterer won best live action short film! Director Benjamin Cleary accepted the award.

Actress in a Leading Role
Brie Larson, who portrayed Ma in Truly Moving Picture Award winner and 2015 Heartland Film Festival Opening Night film Room, won best actress in a leading role.

Actor in a Supporting Role
Mark Rylance, who portrayed Rudolf Abel in Truly Moving Picture Award winner Bridge of Spies, won best actor in a supporting role.

The Heartland Film Festival has earned the special designation of being a qualifying festival for the Annual Academy Awards® within the Short Films category. This means that the winner of the Grand Prize for Best Narrative Short Film will qualify for consideration in the Short Films category of the Annual Academy Awards® without the standard theatrical run, provided the film otherwise complies with the Academy rules.
